Meet the Lysakowski Family
The Lysakowskis are a family of 6 with 4 young children ranging in ages from 4 to 10. With such a large family, the Lysakowskis find it challenging to find the time and money to make healthy choices and change their lifestyle. They want to start shaping their children's habits early on in life. In addition, Lynne and AJ plan to get married in late 2009 and want to be in shape for their wedding.

To be honest our family on whole has been doing great relative to the family goals. We are eating healthier at home, we have learned to read labels, the kids are far more physically active and we are getting more family time in. The swimming lessons have been great for all of the kids, Ashley enjoys the dances. Kayleigh loves the rock climbing. Brooke really enjoys the cooking lessons, and well Aidan loves it all. As for me I have been struggling relative to my goals. With our busy family, a full time job and just life in general I am finding myself too tired or busy to get to the gym as often as I would like. I have been struggling with depression for the last several months and am very much an emotional eater and that is taking its toll as well. I know in my head that going to the gym and eating healthier will in the end make me feel better but I always seem to find a way to talk myself out of it. I have made a promise to myself that I will make every effort possible to get there at least 3 times a week and hoping that AJ will help motivate me to do that. I have lost some weight but certainly not as such as I had hoped to by this stage in the program. I am sure if I can just get into the swing of it I will be able to catch up.

This morning was great! Thank you all so much for helping this all happen for us. The kids had a blast and can't stop talking about it...you have all been so wonderful to us. We are really looking forward to working with you all this year.....the kids have already mastered the video recorder pretending to be news reporters after school today, so there should be lots of footage rolling in.

Our family all has their memberships in place now and the kids started their swim lessons. Aj and I are scheduled to meet with our trainers this week to get all set up.
Our family found the goal setting session really good and it continued on for a day or two after we left. Even though the kids were being a little silly at first they really started to jump on board. I think that we should start small with a few really specific things with shorter time frames to accomplish. We will track it at home on the fridge and have some kind of reward at the end - An open swim, an afternoon at the park, etc... I think that this will help keep us all motivated. We were even thinking of maybe a financial reward. Maybe $20 every week that we meet our goals to be placed in a jar to put towards a trip to Disney or something for the family.
As for workouts, we have not had any yet. Aj goes tomorrow for his session and I am going Wednesday.
We are all really excited about the Live Remote on November 11th. In fact we even scheduled Brooke's 8th birthday party at the YMCA in Flamborough. We thought we would film some of it in case you wanted it. The kids are having a blast and want to go every waking minute. It is great to see them so enthused. We are trying to work out a schedule that is exciting to them and allows us time to do what we need to do as well.
