Bruce Pearson

Bruce Pearson, Chair

Bruce Pearson is a retired President, co-founder and owner of Pearson-Dunn Insurance and Financial Services Inc. Bruce is a strong YMCA supporter and serves as Chair of the Audit Committee, Chair of the Board Development Committee and as a member of the Nominating Sub-Committee. His community service includes chair of the Hamilton Police Services Board, Past Chair of the Insurance Institute of Ontario and is a Past President of the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario. Bruce is also past president and provincial director of the Ancaster Agricultural Society. He is a long time Rotarian and former President of the Ancaster AM Rotary.

   
 Mary Williams

Mary Williams, Vice Chair

Mary Williams is the Associate Vice President of University Advancement at McMaster University. Mary serves on the Board Development Committee, the Nominating Sub-Committee and the Communications Workgroup. Mary is an active volunteer and has served a number of local and national organizations and is currently a member of the Ronald McDonald House Board of Directors and an executive member of the Board for the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education. Mary and her husband Rob both have a long history with the YMCA.

   
Brian Heagle

Brian Heagle, Past Chair

Brian is a founding partner of Feltmate, Delibato, Heagle LLP, a corporate-based law firm with offices in the Halton region. As a corporate/commercial lawyer, Brian is also a sought-after speaker for professional conferences and other events. He is a Burlington native and an active volunteer with many organizations. Brian is committed to the YMCA's philanthropic culture and proud of its leadership role as an inclusive community welcome to everyone. He currently serves as Chair of the CEO Performance Appraisal Committee, a member of the Nominating Sub-Committee and the Board Development Committee. Brian was also awarded the Burlington 2009 Citizen of the Year.

 Greg Anderson

Greg Anderson

Greg Anderson has been Superintendent of Education with the Grand Erie District School Board since 2000. Prior to that Greg was an elementary school principal for 13 years with the Halton District School Board. He has responsibility for day-to-day operations of all 42 elementary and secondary schools in Haldimand and Norfolk counties. Greg has authored 2 books and several magazine articles on parenting and schooling and works out regularly at the Brantford YMCA. Greg lives with his wife Kim southwest of Brantford near Scotland, Ontario.

   
Gary Beveridge

Gary Beveridge

Gary is a Tax Partner at KPMG. He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) with the Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants, a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, has an Honours Bachelor of Commerce and an MBA from McMaster University. Gary specializes in Canadian Tax Compliance, Canadian Tax Consulting and Private Company Tax Services. His current involvement in the community includes: Chair of the Mohawk College Foundation, Former Chair of the Board of Governors for Mohawk College, Treasurer for Good Shepherd Centres, Advisor for the Focus Consulting Group for the Degroote School of Business and Member of the McMaster Business Advisory Council. Gary will be serving a three year term ending in 2014.

   
Hillary Dawson

Hillary Dawson

Hillary Dawson is President of the Wine Council of Ontario, a non-profit trade association with a leadership role in marketing and establishing policy and future directions for the wine industry in Ontario. Hillary is a well-known, well-respected and frequent speaker on organization, strategic planning, communications and outreach initiatives at political conferences and stakeholder training meetings. Hillary currently serves on the Communications Workgroup and has served as Chair of the Hamilton Downtown Workgroup. Hillary and her family reside in Hamilton.

   
 

Cheryl Jensen

Cheryl Jensen is Mohawk College's Vice President, Academic. Cheryl joined Mohawk as a professor in 1983. Cheryl also serves as Chair of the Industry Education Council of Hamilton, the Faculty of Engineering Dean's Advisory Board at McMaster University, is co-lead of the immigration working group with the Jobs Prosperity Collaborative Hamilton and is a member of the Board of Directors with the Burlington Economic Development Corporation, Skills Canada Ontario and the Hamilton Community Foundation.

   
Phenom Ma

Phemon Ma

Phemon is currently a financial planner and advisor for Assante Capital Management. Prior to this, he worked as an income tax auditor for the Canada Revenue Agency, as an auditor for Clarkson Gordon (Ernst & Young), as the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for a number of Stelco’s subsidiaries. Phemon was the Director and Treasurer for the Children’s Aid Society of Hamilton Wentworth and was also a member of the Executive Committee and Chair of the Audit Committee for the same organization. He is also a Past President of the YMCA’s Men’s Community Club. He also served as the Chair of the Hamilton Wentworth Police Race and Community Relations Committee and as a member of the Hamilton Mayor’s Race Relations Committee. Phemon will be serving a three year term with the Board of Directors ending in 2014.

   
 

Cal Millar

Cal Millar is part owner and currently the President & COO at Channel Zero Inc., owners of CHCH News, having acquired the station from Canwest. His past responsibilities have included the Vice President & General Manager at Channel Zero and the Vice President Central Region at Frisco Bay Industries in San Francisco. Cal has served on numerous not-for-profit and hospital boards, including Bloorview Kid's Rehab and is past Treasurer of Palliative Care Services for York Region.

   
 

Dave Nanderam

Dave Naderam is currently President of TapestyBuilder. As a human resources professional he has also shared his expertise as a Human Capital Consultant at Watson Wyatt Canada. In addition to his work responsibilitiles, Dave is working on his PhD in Organization and Management. He is a strong believer in civic engagment as a source of personal and professional growth. Accordingly, he contributes to various non-profit Boards and community-based advisory panels. Dave currently resides in Carlisle with his wife and two children.

   
Rebecca Repa

Rebecca Repa

Rebecca is the President of St. Peter’s Hospital and Integrated Vice President of Diagnostic Imaging and Laboratory Medicine at St.Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and Hamilton Health Sciences. Rebecca is a graduate of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University where she received her MBA. In addition, she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from McMaster University and is a current member of the Business Advisory Council of the Michael G.DeGroote School of Business. Rebecca is also currently an Industry Professor and Executive-in-Residence for DeGroote. Rebecca will be serving a three year term ending in 2014.

   
 Vicky Smith

Vicky Smith

Vicky Smith is the Regional Rehabilitation, Community and LTC Coordinator with the Central South Regional Stroke Program located at the Hamilton Health Sciences. Vicky has been an active YMCA member for over 25 years and a Board Member with the Brantford YMCA. Vicky is currently a member of the Board Development Committee and the Nominating Sub-Committee.

   
Eric Vandewall

Eric Vandewall

Eric is the President and CEO of Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital. He brings an impressive profile of career experience in the private, public and government sectors of the health care industry. He joined Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital from Trillium Health Centre where he was Senior Vice President. Eric also served as acting CEO with Trillium Health Centre. Eric holds a Master of Public Administration, Health Policy degree from Queen’s University and he and his family are residents of the City of Burlington. A strategic thinker and capable leader with a proven track record for achieving positive results, Eric’s background and experience demonstrate a passion for quality and safe patient care and service, as well as a clear understanding of the issues in health care today. Eric will be serving a three year term with the Board of Directors ending in 2014.

   
Jennifer Walker

Jennifer Walker

Jennifer Walker is a Public Relations and Marketing Consultant who currently works for an independent business in downtown Burlington, is Chair of the Marketing Committee and sits on the Board of Directors for the Burlington Downtown Business Association. Previously, Jennifer owned and operated her own Toronto based consulting practice. For five years she and her partner helped businesses grow sales, launch new products, raise their profiles, help associations communicate with members, manage issues and hold special events. Prior to this she spent 12 years with various public relations agencies working for clients as varied as the Canadian Sport Awards to Nintendo of Canada. Jennifer and her family reside in downtown Burlington and are longtime supporters and members of the Ron Edwards Family YMCA. Jennifer will be serving a three year term with the Board of Directors which will conclude in 2014.

   
 Brian Wood

Brian Wood

Brian Wood is President of Con Cast Pipe Ltd., a leading Canadian manufacturer of concrete products. Brian is a life long Brantford resident and his entire family are regular YMCA participants. Brian is Past Chair of the Board of Directors, and a member of the President & CEO Performance Appraisal Committee.
